How Extend Robotics’ AMAS system streamlines robot training through intuitive AI

As robotics rapidly moves toward greater autonomy, one of the biggest challenges is simplifying how robots learn new tasks. Extend Robotics’ Autonomous Manipulation AI System (AMAS) is designed to overcome that barrier, empowering users to teach robots through natural interaction rather than complex programming.

AMAS transforms robot training into a seamless, user-friendly workflow. Here’s a closer look at how the system works from the operator’s perspective.

1. Capture real tasks using data collection

Training begins with a hands-on approach. Users simply operate the robot to perform the desired task while the data collection feature automatically records every movement, gesture, and action.  This allows AMAS to learn directly from real-world demonstrations, no coding or scripting required.

2. Visualise your demonstrations as episodes

Once tasks are recorded, AMAS organises them into “episodes” inside the Command Console.  These episodes give users a clear, structured view of each task attempt, making it easier to track what was recorded and understand how the robot interpreted each action.

3. Refine and filter your training data

Not every demonstration is perfect, and AMAS recognises that.  Users can easily review each episode and flag any that shouldn’t be used for model training. Removing low-quality or incomplete recordings helps maintain high data integrity and ensures strong model performance.

4. Train an AI model using high-quality episodes

With curated episodes selected, users can begin training.  AMAS offers multiple baseline AI model algorithms, giving operators flexibility depending on their task complexity or application.  The system automatically processes the data, learning from the high-quality demonstrations and building a model capable of replicating the task independently.

5. Deploy the new model straight to Cortex

When training is complete, the refined AI model can be deployed instantly to the Cortex, Extend Robotics’ powerful control platform.  This makes the transition from learning to real-world execution seamless and efficient.

6. Activate AI mode to automate the task

With the model deployed, operators can switch the robot into AI Mode. From here, the robot uses its newly trained model to infer the correct actions and perform the task autonomously. The system handles decisions, timings, and movements, freeing operators from repetitive manual control.

A new standard for accessible robot training

Extend Robotics’ AMAS system bridges the gap between human intuition and robotic autonomy. By enabling users to teach robots through demonstration rather than code, AMAS lowers the barrier to automation and accelerates adoption across industries.

Whether applied to agriculture, logistics, inspection, or manufacturing, the result is the same:smarter robots, faster training, and more intuitive automation.
